Microneedling
Microneedling, also known as medical needling and collagen induction therapy, is a procedure where fine sterile needles puncture the skin. Each of the tiny punctures invokes a repair response to the trauma of the needle entering the skin whereby the body increases blood flow to the area leading to growth factors within the blood stimulating new cell and collagen growth to rejuvenate the skin.
As well as helping with fine lines and skin laxity it also helps with the appearance of scars and stretch marks.
The treatment can cause swelling, bruising, redness and sometimes flaking of the skin which can last a few days depending on the depth the needles penetrate the skin. Typical downtime is around 1-2 days. Although the treatment is good for treating acne scarring it is not advisable to have the treatment whilst there is active acne as it can make it worse.
The procedure costs from £100 for a small area.
