Fat dissolving injections are one way to improve the appearance of localised areas of excess fatty tissue.

Fat dissolving injections are made from Deoxycholic acid solutions. This acid is naturally occurring, produced within the body by the liver to break down fat in the stomach. By using a higher concentration of deoxycholic acid in an injectable solution it can be injected into specific areas and used to target and destroy fat cells.

Common areas that can be injected include the chin, abdomen, upper arms and back. A consultation is performed pre procedure to ensure suitability for the procedure.

The procedure can take from 30 minutes to perform depending on the area of the body injected. A little dicomfort may be experienced during the procedure. It is common to experience swelling, bruising and tenderness after the procedure and these side effects can last up to a couple of weeks. Once the fat is dissolved it is flushed through the body via the lymphatic system so it is important to drink plenty of water after the procedure.

One average two to four sessions are required to get desired results and it is recommended the sessions are three to six weeks apart.
