Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a cosmetic treatment in which an acid solution is applied to the skin to exfoliate and remove damaged outer layers of skin. Solutions are typically mage up of a combination of alpha-hydroxy acids, beta-hydroxy acids or trichloroaceticid, which work to dissolve the bonds between dead skin cells, allowing them to be sloughed off.

Chemical peels can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns including acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lies and uneven texture and tone. They can be performed at different depths ranging from superficial to deep depending on the specific concerns.

After a chemical peel the skin may be red, flaky and sensitive for several days to a week depending on the depth of the peel. It is important to follow the recommended aftercare instructions, such as avoiding sun exposure and using specific skincare products to ensure optimal healing and results.

While chemical peels are generally safe when performed by a qualified and experienced practitioner there are some risks and complications to consider, theses include, infection, scarring (particularly with deeper peels), changes to skin colour (more of a risk with deeper peels), skin sensitivity, allergic reactions and eye injury if the acid accidentally gets on to the surface of the eye.

Depending on the depth of the peel it can take 30 minutes to 90 minutes for the treatment.

The Obagi Radiance peel is a gylcolic and salicylic acid peel which is a superficial peel that helps to tighten, smooth and brighten skin improving fine lines, rough uneven skin, blemishes and mild to moderate sun damage. Improvements can be noted from one session but a course of 4-6 will give optimal results.

Cost from £130 per session.
